Bill Martingale – Palace Theatre
Bill worked as Stage Manager and later General Manager of the Palace Theatre on Walthamstow High Street. The theatre staged music hall acts with generally two performances on weekdays and three on Saturdays.
Here he describes how they would manage the rehearsals, props and band calls for the shows. He also tells that the band would often use the 10 minutes when they were not playing during a show to run to the Chequers pub and back again without missing their cue!
